Over 10,000 homeless men, women and children fill streets of Atlanta. More than 25 percent of those are under the age of 12 and the number is growing. Compassion Atlanta provides food and basic necessities to 55 Atlanta shelters + organizations, reaching more than 35,000 people a month. Located on the “worst block” in Atlanta with the highest crime rate, most homeless, most HIV cases, most incarcerated men and women than any other area of Georgia. Every student, leader, and volunteer attending Passion 2010 is asked to bring 1 new or gently used towel and 1 package of socks (for men, women or children) to fill the Compassion Atlanta warehouse and be distributed over the course of the year to area shelters caring for Atlanta’s men, women, and children who are without a permanent home.
